Analysis of Parents' Role in Accompanying Children's Use of Gadgets in the Digital Age

Abstract


The development of technology in the digital era has challenges and influences on human life patterns, including for parents, especially in educating children. This research aims to describe the role of parents in assisting children's gadget use. This research method uses a descriptive approach with data collection techniques of interviews, participatory observation and documentation. Data analysis using data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study show that the intensity of children's gadget use is 15% with time under 1 hour, 40% within 1-2 hours, 30% 2 - 3 hours, 15% above 3 hours. While the role of parental assistance to children at PAUD Ari-Ari 40% is at a moderate stage and 30% is low. Parents are not fully maximised in assisting the use of gadgets.   Whereas parents have an important role in assisting the use of gadgets in children, including limiting the time of gadget use, the ability to choose content, making agreement rules for gadget use, and facilitating children's activities with other activities
